The Charlotte House Series is thrilled to welcome local drag entertainer Daisy Buckët to make her Series debut and to kick off its seventh season. A staple in the LGBT community in Kansas City for nearly 20 years, Daisy Buckët has entertained audiences around the country and internationally to critical acclaim. In 2019, Daisy won The Pitch Magazine's Best Drag Queen in Kansas City and won again in 2021 and 2022. In 2021, she was recognized by the Heartland Men's Chorus as their first Hero of Note for her support of the Chorus and its mission.

 

Most known for her role as the lovable beehived Trampolina in "America’s Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet," The Kinsey Sicks, with whom she's appeared on Watch What Happens Live! With Andy Cohen, RuPaul's Drag Race (Season 8 Finale), and ABC's The Gong Show. The quartet has garnered high praise from Forbes Magazine, The New Yorker, and had a featurette on CNN. In 2023, they released their eleventh album, Drag Queen Storytime Gone Wild!.

The Series is thrilled to welcome back Dr. Kara Huber to perform in its seventh season. GRAMMY® nominated Canadian-American pianist and conductor Kara Huber is quickly establishing herself as a celebrated member of the new class of concert pianists. Hailed as “absolutely dazzling…in a word, flawless” (New York Concert Review) in her Carnegie Hall debut, Dr. Huber combines the polish and warmth of an old-school soloist with the charisma and flair of the new generation of piano virtuosi.

Dr. Huber has performed across North America, Europe, and Australia, including lauded solo appearances at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Piano Virtuoso Series at the Canadian Opera Company, the Rising Stars Piano Series in Southampton, New York and Steinway Series at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. An in-demand recitalist, she seeks to excite and delight diverse audiences through creative and engaging programming. Her album featuring the complete solo piano works of Joan Tower was released in 2024 to critical acclaim.

Dr. Huber has received numerous prizes and awards for her performances, including the Audience Favorite Award in the Cincinnati World Piano Competition. She received training from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Frank Weinstock and Awadagin Pratt, and at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music with John Perry and Leon Fleisher. Dr. Huber completed a DMA in piano and conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and previously taught at the University of Louisville School of Music. She currently serves as the Marjorie Wood Drackett Chair of Piano at the Interlochen Arts Academy.

The Bel Canto Duo Performs

The Bel Canto Duo—oboist/English hornist Darci Gamerl and cellist/looping artist David Downing—craft immersive, healing soundscapes rooted in classical tradition, improvisation, and story. Their performances explore the intersection of music, place, and memory, with commissions such as Four Cather Tableaux and Sacred Waters. Their live score for the upcoming documentary Taking Flight: The Eighth Wonder of the World premieres in 2025 with support from the Crane Trust, Nebraska Humanities, and Cathedral Arts Project.


Darci Gamerl, a classically trained oboist and English horn specialist, studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory and Chicago College of Performing Arts. Her interdisciplinary work bridges music, neuroscience, and healing arts, with collaborations through TEDxOmaha and research institutions.


David Downing is a genre-fluid cellist, composer, and improviser known for his innovative looping techniques and collaborative versatility. His compositions reflect his Venezuelan roots and a lifelong engagement with music as a vehicle for storytelling and community connection.


Bel Canto Duo was named Outstanding New Artist by the Omaha Entertainment Awards and served as 2025 artists-in-residence at Chesterwood, where they are developing a commissioned piece inspired by the work of Daniel Chester French to be premiered in 2026. Their work is also featured in Willa Cather: Breaking the Mold, with commentary by filmmaker Ken Burns.

Matthew Ball is the attorney turned musician that became a YouTube hit with 5 million views! Specializing in the performance of New Orleans Song, Boogie-Woogie Piano, Swing Dance era favorites, and Classic songs with a boogie-woogie twist, Matthew's performances span from symphony and chamber appearances to Jazz and Blues festivals. His career encompasses a performance history that spans 16 states, Canada and Germany, and television and radio. In 2020 he became a CAFE grant award winner for bringing family friendly entertainment to the community. Find him online and on Facebook today as "The Boogie Woogie Kid."

Matthew loves to perform favorites such as In the Mood, Georgia, All My Lovin, Can't Help Fallin in Love with You, It Had to be You, Isn't She Lovely, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Don't Get Around Much Anymore, When the Saints Go Marchin' In, Take Good Care of My Baby, Just a Closer Walk, Moonglow, What a Wonderful World, On the Sunny Side of the Street, New York New York, Bumble boogie, Honeydripper, and many more. Pianist Eddison Chen in Concert

Season Finale

A sophomore at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, Eddison began playing piano at the age of four and has been studying with Sean Chen since 2020. He has since won numerous prizes in various national and international piano competitions.


Recent awards include 3rd prize in the 2025 Arthur Fraser Piano Competition, a part of the Southeastern Piano Festival; Bronze Medal Winner in the 2025 Palm Springs International Piano Competition (PSIPC), where he played Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 with the PSIPC Festival Orchestra under the direction of Peter Wilson; and 1st Prize in the 2024 Kansas City Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition, where he made his debut with the Kansas City Symphony under Michael Stern performing Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor. He also won 3rd Prize at the 2022 Music Teachers National Association Junior Division and received an Honorable Mention in the 2022 Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition. Eddison was also the youngest competitor in the 11th National Chopin Competition and a quarter finalist in the 2023 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition.


Eddison has been featured on NPR's “From the Top” and Classical KC 91.9. He was a 2024 recipient of the Chopin Foundation Scholarship and was selected as a participant in the 2025 Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival. He is also a 3-year scholarship recipient of the Heartland Friends of Chamber Music Young Artist Project.


This season finale concert will feature a Series-commissioned premiere.
